This is an excellent Fantasy book. At the time I read it, I didn't want to, but I ended up loving it and now Nix os one of my favorite authors.

  • I really enjoyed this book. But looking back over it the adventure seems a bit short almost. I honestly wanted more. Very descriptive and a good amount of action though. I found Mogget, easily, to be the most enjoyable character ha ha. Now I just need to find the 2nd book in the trilogy.

With a unique take on fantasy deeply rooted along the line between life and death, Nix crafts a story that continuously switches between deliciously fictitious, yet unnervingly real. Sabriel is the quintessential modern fantasy, reconciling the old need for a detailed history with the modern desire for palpable characters. Overall, Sabriel is the beginning of a thoroughly enticing and enjoyable saga.

A great book, introducing the world the book is set in securely and showing Sabriel's insecurities and Touchstone's self-loathing as he blames himself for the events of two hundred years before.

  • One of the best fantasy series I've had the pleasure to read - it's nice to read something that's more than a romantic dungeon crawl!
