If you were confused by the recent debates and conflicts between science and religion, this book would suit you well and surely clears up your mind.
Dixon had studied both thoelogy and philosophy of science. In the book, he provides a historical perspective on the matters, which start from the trial of Galileo and ends with the modern scientific findings on human's mind and brain. The coverage is thorough, the writing is clear and 'balanced'. (at least the most balanced one i had ever read).
As Dixon says in his preface, 'it is no part of my aim in this book to persuade people to stop disagreeing with each other about science and religion- far from it. My hope is only that it might help people to disagree with each other in a well-informed way.' For me, Dixon has this achieved brilliantly.
