Who said nothing good came out of the 1980s?
Well, this work, published at the tail end of the 1980s encapsulates what sensitive, empowering and progressive treatment should look like, for both the treated and the therapist.
As I read Utain's incredibly sensitive approach to Ms. Oliver, I was continually struck by her almost otherworldly tolerance, acceptance, patience and love. It seemed that Utain could relate to Oliver, or that her intuitive intelligence was so developed that it seemed so.
One thinks that such humanistic approaches to therapy are the future, if they do not define the profession today. I am still gobsmacked that Utain has not gained greater prominence-internationally-for her absolutely inspiring approach to holistic healing as it is desperately needed today in 2016 more than ever.
Brilliant pioneering collaborative analysis and treatment of an abuse survivor's formative development.
