I respect and admire Syd Field. He started from scracht and met very significant people. He's the one who realized how a script is structured: this is amazing. He put a mile stone into screenwriting. But I don't like his books. It's like they were kind of dust, because not really updated. Syd keeps the pace but when I read a Blake Snyder (who evidently was one of Field's pupil), well, his books are really the thing. Syd is right, but not really hooking. One thing, of what Syd says, I really like: that before writing you need to research a lot and to perfectly know what you are writing about. This is very important and right - and something tha Snyder completely omitted.
