his old Colonel from the Crimea who is now Head of The Liverpool Cotton Association. The Colonel needs their help and engages them to investigate a problem in his offices. They travel to Liverpool and inadvertently stumble upon murder and intrigue in the cotton trade. A deteriorating situation leads them from Liverpool to New Orleans and involves both The White House and Downing Street. Once again, Cullen Moffat's experience as a military policeman is utilised, aided and assisted by John Batchelor's unconventional social manners and Uriah Garrett's journalistic skills.
