      This book is not anywhere near as good as his first book in this trilogy, "The Physician," however, it is an engaging story with details of the medical conditions during the Civil War, the treatment of our Native Americans and religious prejudices among early settlers. I do recommend it, but read "The Physician" if you must make a choice between them.
