Book Description
In Neil Gaiman's richly imagined fiction, anything is possible. And the proof is in the telling in this extraordinary collection of short stories. Discover within these pages miraculous inventions and curious characters: an elderly widow who finds the Holy Grail tucked beneath an old fur coat in a thrift store, a terrified boy who barters for his life with a mean-spirited troll living beneath a bridge by the railroad tracks, a young couple who receives a wedding gift that gradually reveals a chilling alternative history of their marriage. Smoke and Mirrors will dazzle your senses, touch your heart -- and haunt your dreams.

The best stories of the collection were: The Wedding Present (found in the introduction), Troll Bridge, Queen of Knives, We Can Get Them for You Wholesale, and Snow, Glass, Apples. All of them are sufficiently creepy and really make you think. Don't Ask Jack and The Sweeper of Dreams were short, but quite good. The less important (but entertaining) stories are Chivalry, The Goldfish Pool, and Shoggoth's Old Peculiar.
The rest of the collection I could have done without. I judge a story based on the message it gives... some didn't even have a message, others were used for the shock factor, and the rest just didn't interest me.
I guess you can't expect all of them to be good, but I did enjoy myself for the most part. If you're a Gaiman fan, definitely check this one out.
