There's a lot of interesting Sci-fi written for the Young Adult crowd these days. While the themes could have been dealt with in a deeper way, I think, and deserved a longer book, So Yesterday makes its point--that marketing has a powerful hold over our lives, and we should be cautious around those ... I find it hard to believe that companies would actually pay kids to look for and create new trends, but then again, I wouldn't put it past them to make a buck.
