Book Description
Something Borrowed tells the story of Rachel, a young attorney living and working in Manhattan. Rachel has always been the consummate good girl---until her thirtieth birthday, when her best friend, Darcy, throws her a party. That night, after too many drinks, Rachel ends up in bed with Darcy's fiancé. Although she wakes up determined to put the one-night fling behind her, Rachel is horrified to discover that she has genuine feelings for the one guy she should run from. As the September wedding date nears, Rachel knows she has to make a choice. In doing so, she discovers that the lines between right and wrong can be blurry, endings aren't always neat, and sometimes you have to risk all to win true happiness. Something Borrowed is a phenomenal debut novel that will have you laughing, crying, and calling your best friend.

At times the writing can be very forced to me, it doesn't flow in parts, and while I've seen many others say that after reading it they can understand what Rachel and Dex did- I still cannot. Darcy may be annoying, superficial, and she may of made her own mistakes but I don't think that justifies what Rachel did. Also, a lot of times I found her character weak, how she always gave in to Dex and that really annoyed me. I did like the book much more than I thought I would, and I was eager to finish it.
This book was great! The dialogue is funny and smart. It really shows you the history of Darcy's and Rachel's relationship - how they work and how they don't work. This book was great! The dialogue is funny and smart. It really shows you the history of Darcy's and Rachel's relationship - how they work and how they don't work. You feel for Rachel, (or some do I guess) because she is caught between being the good friend and following her heart. Even though there is a lot of dishonesty going around between the characters in this book, you still really like reading about them.
The first book in the Something Borrowed/Something Blue Combo. Touching and Humorous. From Rachel's point of view. Loved it.
Chick lit.
