Robin Hobb, which I haven't liked when I attempted to read her Farseer Trilogy, and to whom I suppose I owe a second chance.
Neil Gaiman, who's as always the charmingly disturbing writer I've l ... (continue)Rowina said on Apr 28, 2011 | Add your feedback

Here are my favourites!
You and you alone (Jacqueline Carey)
This story is why I wanted this book so much. I am a great fan of J.Carey’s kushiel legacy, and how could I miss the tale of the ill fated romance between Anafiel Delaunay (my favourite character) and his prince Rolande de la Courcel? The story is simple, piercing, sweet and heartbraking, with all the well known capability of summoning emotions that Carey’s fans already know. But it could have been longer (though I know that the author had to respect a stated length). In addition, characters are precisely how I imagined them! In conclusion, this is a beautiful story who ended in tragedy and no one that loves Carey’s books can miss it!
The thing about Cassandra (Neil Gaiman)
Memory can be a really unreliable thing, particularly in the matter of the heart….
A young man meet an old girlfiend… pity she has been made up by his fantasy! A weird story, full of mystery and with a conclusion open to interpretations…
Hurt me (M. Hanover)
A woman buys a new house; the woman is strange, with a past of marital abuse. The house is haunted by a ruthless and evil spirit who hates women… unexpected conclusion!
Demon lover (Cecilia Holland)
A girl once beautiful and courted had an accident who made her limp and badly scarred, until a mysterious wizard gave her the chance to be pretty and loved again, with a path that lends to a magnificent castle full of beautiful courtesans…but something went wrong.
Love can save us from illusion. Nice one.
This is a very precious anthology, crefted by the editing team of Gardner Dozois and Geroge R.R. Martin ....as for the second name... if you create such an anthology why don't you write your own story among the others? Maybe set on the world of A Song Of Ice and Fire?? Maybe involving characters like....Targaryens people?
Just a thought.
