I bought this book primarily because of the "Supertoys Last All Summer Long" stories (as I really love A.I.). But the rest of the stories were so-so, except for a few like "Dark Society," "Headless," "A Matter of Mathematics," and "Galaxy Zee". I guess Stanley Kubrick was right when he said that Brian Aldiss' writing was either "brilliant [or] not so damned good".
