There's the main plot: a child has an accident while swimming in the neighbours' swimming-pool and her parents decide to sue the couple with the help of a city lawyer, who also happens to be the child's mother's lover.
Then there's a secondary plot: a middle-aged man is a friend of the sued couple and gives them legal advice, while falling in love with an 18-year-old musician.
