For children everywhere

After the first few chapters of episodic adventures to give us some background to Tom Sawyer, the plot develops and turns into a nice, unambitious tale of childhood. another book from my childhood...what do I remember about it? it's not half as involving as the Treasure Island, not a bad reading either. It left me that typical taste of English literature (not all though, sure), slightly depressing even when it's supposed to be light.

I believe I read this on my own. As I recall, Huckleberry Finn was required, but Tom Sawyer was not. I read Tom Sawyer (although not this edition) during the summer.
