12 stories about 12 of the Lamed Vav, the thirty-six righteous ones, who are hidden among all of humanity. They do not know their own true natures and they come from all walks of life, so even the most unlikely (thief, gambler, liar), can actually become exemplary people who inspire their fellow villagers. The writing is marvellous, the stories are inspiring and truly magical. One of the most beautiful books I've read in a long time.
