This novel temporarily concludes the Lost Era series and it is safe to say that we were really waiting for it.
Finally a decent novel that succeed in mixing sci-fi with action in a Star Trek adventure that can stand up to the classics.
Everything in the book is in the right place: a right level of technobabble mixed with real military and scholastic life adventures.
It also proposes an interesting vision of the evolution of Jean-Luc Picard as a character prior TNG. While this evolution will certainly not please all Trekkers, it is a sound tentative indeed, one that we can praise anyway.
The length of the novel is enough to encompass more than one storyline without letting them unconnected.
