  L'umanità, dopo la conquista dello spazio e la colonizzazione di mondi vicini (the spacer) si rinchiude nelle viscere del suo mondo natale, in quegli abissi d'acciaio che potrebbero un giorno essere la loro tomba.
  Essere umani agorafobici, rassicurati dalla soverchiante umanità che li circonda, costretti a mangiare lieviti per l'insufficienza di produzione agricola rispetto alla popolazione... incredibilmente attuale. E poi la precisione, quasi da antropologo, con cui vengono discussi i costumi di questa società, dalla diffidenza verso gli "Spacers"fino ai "personal", i servizi igienici comuni, perché non c'è spazio per bagni privati! Per non parlare di R. Daneel Olivaw, della sua emergente umanità positronica. Leggendo Asimov si fatica davvero a vedere ancora il "diverso" come un qualcosa di negativo... affascinante.

  Lovely classic sci-fi. It reads like film noir with a distopian future and of course robots! Re-reading it I found I enjoyed it just as much as the first time around.
