    Stephen King always writes like a steam train, but this book was.. hmm.. meagre? Based on a newspaper article given to him by a friend, King writes the story of a dead man found on a beach.     Stephen King always writes like a steam train, but this book was.. hmm.. meagre? Based on a newspaper article given to him by a friend, King writes the story of a dead man found on a beach. No final 'HEdunnit!', just mystery and loose ends. I assume the book appeals to a different public than his usual crowd, but I - part of his usual crowd - found the story shallow and unsatisfactory.

  • An exercise in writing hard-boiled literature by Stephen King.
    The story is OK, but it never really rises, it never gets any pace, it seems to be going nowhere. Still more than decent, but far from being as good as I always expect from Stephen King.
