Critically and textually up-to-date, this new edition of the classic translation (Samuel Moore, 1888) features an introduction and notes by the eminent Marx scholar David McLellan, prefaces written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels subsequent to the original 1848 publication, and corrections
of errors made in earlier versions. Regarded as one of the most influential political tracts ever written, The Communist Manifesto serves as the foundation document of the Marxist movement. This summary of the Marxist vision is an incisive account of the world-view Marx and Engels had evolved during
their hectic intellectual and political collaboration of the previous few years.

  • A bit crude.

Very militant, full of anger and an obvious lack of objectivity!

Excellent if you agree with him and are a communist or socialist. Utterly vile otherwise.

I bought this book to get a brief understanding of Marxism as i was going to attend a conference about it. From what i understand, Karl Marx penned The Communist Manifesto himself so i thought this would be a good introductory book. It helps that the book is thin!

Halfway through this book, and i have got an idea of what Marxism is about. The problem was that the Manifesto states its ideals, but does not explain them very well. Also, the language used is quite confusing and meandering. Perhaps it is because this was translated from the original version, and official documents can be quite monotonous.

If you have the time, i would suggest getting a different book that explains Marxism in greater detail and in a language that people who do not study politics, may be able to understand.

For a brief overview of the ideals of Marxism, this book should suffice. In my case, it helped a great deal just prior to the conference. But i have purchased another book that hopefully will shed more light on Marxism.
