A collection of short stories; first a few very short and simple fairy stories with a moral, then a few strange fairy tale like stories that were somewhat disturbing. A collection of short stories; first a few very short and simple fairy stories with a moral, then a few strange fairy tale like stories that were somewhat disturbing. "The Fisherman and his Soul" is a bit allegorical, but what the deeper meaning behind this story is, I have no idea... "The Birthday of the Infanta" was a bit depressing. The later stories in this book are longer and no fairy tales. I liked "Lord Arthur Saville's Crime" and "The Canterville Ghost" well enough, because of the sarcastic humor and irony. The early fairy tales in the beginning were also alright. In short, this is a collection with many different short stories, not exactly meant for children.

Including stories that everyone has heard of in childhood, yet it is not simply a book of fairy tales, it tells moral, money, religion and aspects that were valued in Wilde's times.

Including stories that everyone has heard of in childhood, yet it is not simply a book of fairy tales, it tells moral, money, religion and aspects that were valued in Wilde's times.
I like "Lord Athur Savile's Crime" the most, because it tells the paradox of fate. Is it men who control fate or the other way round? A question that lies deeply in my mind after reading the story...
