The narrator of this remarkable novel is Christopher Boone, a 15-year-old boy who has Asperger's Syndrome, a form of autism, that means he is unable to understand human emotions. He is, however, highly intelligent and can rattle off all kinds of fact ... (read full critics)

  • Funny old world

I am told that a teenager with Asperger's syndrome might very well have a sense of humour, even if it might seem odd to most of us. But clinical accuracy takes second place to narrative intent in Mark Haddon's novel, whose autistic narrator, Christop ... (read full critics)

    A different book.

I read the book in English last summer, and I must say that I found it very nice. I think describing the universe of an autistic person isn’t easy, but the writer managed it well, putting in the plot this little boy who sees the world with different eyes.

Four stars for the mathematical games between the chapters, too - I liked doing them, and I think put games like those ones into a book it’s an original idea :)

  • Un libro davvero bellissimo, interessante e commovente. C'è,però, un piccolo errore in appendice, nella dimostrazione. :)

  • It is (indeed) a masterpiece

I cannot find the right words to describe this book. I relished every single page. Christopher is right: if you see four yellow cars then it's a Great Day, if you see four red cars in a row it is a Bad Day, nothing less and nothing more.

His simplicity is his greatness, what makes him so wise and truthful: he can say "that is wrong", "that is right and good for me" without any problems. He doesn't lie, ever.
And the ending is just great: not for what happened (it can be considered a "normal" ending, even a predictable one), but for Crhistopher's words. It is great literature, no doubt for it.

To further explain this journey,I'd have to be an expert. Since such is not the case, I just reccomand everyone who comes across this book to just ... (continue)
