The setting seemed interesting and convinced me to read the book, but I was rather underwhelmed by it. The characters are paper thin and apparently do things "just because", the main character, who's also the narrator, repeats the same things over and over and says "fuck" a lot, other than that there's no personality or wants or the feeling of a rounded person: he exists in a void.
The plot is... a bit baffling.
I did not hate it, more like it left me very perplexed as to why it was published: it reads like an amateurish attempt at a novel.
It is a book ripe with technical flaws, from infodump to the author repeating the same infos over and over (I got the distinct impression he didn't trust his readers' IQ to be very high), to paper-thin characters to plot that leaves much to be desired. I was a bit surprised because I'm sure I read a good review someplace I can usually trust to get it right.
