Does not give in-depth details of the attacks the Palestinians suffered in 1948, but more a general outlook on what went on leading to the year of the Nakba, and then specifically in 1948, and a little on the events after that. The book concentrates more on the results and consequences, but also gives a few reminders of what happened in certain dates - though those always left me hungry to know more about what went on. Comprehensive of complete bibliography, so it shouldn't be hard to feed that hunger.
At any rate, this book explains a lot about all the parties concerned in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict - including UK and Jordan in the front lines, but also Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and USA. Unlike school history books and general society, which simply teach you that the Israelis/Arabs (depending on what side of the river you live on) are evil, it tries to clarify why the conflict is still on-going, why the Palestinians commit suicide bombings and create Intifadas, why the international community can just sit and watch without doing anything. This book is essential for everyone to read, to understand why Palestine is trying to become a member of the UN, and hopefully to teach the new generations more than just simple hatred. This is a book to read before anyone starts pointing fingers without knowing the past of that piece of land.
