If you care about and/or are involved in the architectural design process this book is a must read. There are two essays within the book but the basic concept (that is similar in many ways to much of Louis Kahn's thinking) is that Architecture is much greater than the measurable (plans) or visual (aesthetics) typically used to shape and define it.
