Well, ABC Family aired the first episode (based on this book series) a few days ago. I, for some reason, have a predilection for cheesy TV (though, that is subjective) and dubious YA fiction (why, I still don't know...) so when I watched the series premiere and was sorely disappointed, I thought I'd check out the book.

Since someone on here has already done a good job of outlining the plot, I thought I'd skip it and go straight to it: -

Turned out better than I thought. A fun read. I thought Chloe's freak-out over figuring out that she was part cat was more realistic than what was offered in the episode, and also, she seemed a lot more likeable - less perky than the TV version. Chloe is actually a fully-realised character here with a bit of a mouth on her, which is refreshing (a lot of YA lit adheres to the fact that very YOUNG adults read it, and SHOULDN'T BE EXPOSED TO SUCH LANGUAGE...but seem completely fine with including tons of sexual tension...seems a bit double standard-y, but fine, let's go with it)

Despite the book being about Chloe's realisation that she is different and going through changes (thinly veiled metaphor I'm thinking...you'll see what I mean when you read it), it is also about her relationship with friends, her mother and boys. We also find out that she is in very real danger. Sadly, this isn't addressed (much) in this book, and we still don't know WHAT she is part of...Perhaps an attempt to get one reading book 2???

The book ended abruptly though. And it wasn't much of a twist either (although some reviewers think differently), but I suppose by the time you read the last sentence, realise there isn't another page to turn; you have to try get your hands onto book 2. If not to dispel the "wait, what? Where's the rest???" or because you were genuinely met with an exciting end, finding and getting your hands on the sequel (The Stolen) is a must. Unless the whole thing bored you to death. And in that case, kudos for finishing the book.

Just turning 16, Chole King's life changes once she falls off a 20 ft tower and doesnt die. Her body goes through some unusual changes of that of a normal teenager. She now has long sharp cat like nails and can run and jum faster than ever. But whats really get strange is the 3 new guys in her life and a stalker thats trying to kill her and shadowy figure that has the same abilities as her. Are the 3 new guy somehow connected to this stalker or this mysterious person or should she just not trust anyone? With all these crazy things going on in her life the one person in the world she has to share all of this with is too busy with her boyfriend to listen to Chloe. The ending will really surprise you and have you wanting more!

I really enjoyed reading this novel. I thought it was fun and real. I could totally connect with Chloe as feeling like an outsider. I believe its just something we all go through as part of growing up. The ending of this story really had me awed! I couldnt believe it and that it was over...well for now. Which is why I am certainly reading the next installment 'The Stolen'.
