Feynman's effective classroom style remains intact in these volumes, a valuable work by a remarkable educator. The volumes are an edited version of Richard Feynman's lectures, taped and transcribed specifically for the books. The three volume commemorative issue is either available hardbound and packaged in a specially designed slipcase, or in a paperbound edition. This three volume work was originally designed for a two-year introductory physics course given at the California Institute of Technology — a course designed to take advantage of readers' increasing mathematical prowess and to provide a more comprehensive view of modern-day physics. It is a rigorous undertaking that resulted in a classic reference work for anyone interested in physics.

no body would read all lectures in this book unless one is a, say, form 5 student*, or as a lucky caltech freshmen. i say i 'finished' this book as a homage to feyman: hey, i know your stuff, in the way you like us to know - i.e, intuitively, hand-wavingly, imaginatively, and, above all, lively. i nearly wept when a jewish professor derived the value of electric charge using your diagram method. that was the high point of my physics education. though i had to leave physics for other things, the three books of your lectures have always stood by my side as a reminder that truth is beauty and beauty, truth.

    * as a reviewer said, i wish we had this as secondary text book. if only 漢榮 had it, i would have thrown my body and soul in physics in form 5. instead there were only pedestrian inanities called 'university physics' and thank mr parker of the a-level physics textbook, i did not meet my true love until grad school.
