I have been meaning to read this book for quite a while and just got around to it because we are reading it in September for book club. I enjoyed Johnson's novel. It definately was well written, however, I'm not sure I understand the title. I can't wait to discuss it, to see what everyone else think ... (continue)

I read it two or three years ago, but had forgotten the details. This time I listened to the cassette. The first three-quarters of the book I was thinking, "Why didn't he just give the baby up for adoption. Is it so great to want to take care of your baby yourself when you're just a kid yourself?" Only at the end do we find out that the couple had planned to place the baby with an adopted family, and why Bobby changed his mind about that.
