This has been my favourite book... for the last ten years, at least. Fowles masters the English language in a way that no-one else knows how to, going back and forth from a contemporary style to something less modern. The story is pure magic and the friendly mockery of past times is very amusing. I have read it three times from start to finish and I have read bits of it here and there an infinite number of times.
