The Husband's Secret

How does every minor decision in your daily routine affects your life
I would say this book is a very interesting read which you could not stop yourself from reading.
This book does not put much emphasis on the three different marriage lives of three different couples, but on how to cope with different burden which you have taken up in one's life

The main theme I feel from this book is that everybody has some secrets and nobody is totally guiltless. This novel is intriguing because it lets/makes the readers feel that there are so many suspenseful mysteries and unknowns waiting to be discovered. Nevertheless, when all come to an end, it's not too pretty (though we've avoided the greatest pain and sorrow that the accident actually didn't kill Polly Fitzpatrick). The author at the end even points to different possibilities in the form of "what if" in this or that scenario. Her points are well taken but they don't really offer anything significantly profound. One's life could be easily changed if just a couple bits of one's past had been altered.

Though the book cover has "the Husband's Secret" on it, it's really about everybody's secret ! From the beginning, the readers are drawn to find out what John-Paul Fitzpatrick's secret is but it doesn't really come out until p. 163. But somehow I have enjoyed reading it until the end and at times I have found it hard to put this novel down. The author releases or adds information bit by bit and makes the readers think that more intriguing secrets or facts would soon follow.

Will and Felicity betrayed Tess morally or emotionally. But after flying to her Mom's home in Sydney, Tess betrayed her husband physically :-) At the end, the author gives Will and Tess their second child with the secret doubt that this child may be of Connor Whitby :-) Will doesn't know about this but Felicity and Tess' Mom (Lucy) seem to know :-) Rachel has wanted to kill the murderer of her daughter, Janie Crowley. But, due to her guilt that her car hit Polly and the worry that John-Paul & Cecilia might reveal that she has stepped on the accelerator to try to kill Connor Whitby --- whom she thought had murdered Janie --- but tragically hit Polly, Rachel at the end couldn't or chosen not to tell the Police whom the murderer of her daughter really is. Life is cynical and is more complicated than just "black and white". We are all just trying to deal with our own secrets and guilt in our own peculiar way.

I've only come across one trivial typo: on p.91 (20th line), the first ” should be “ (opening quotation mark, rather than closing quotation mark).
