  A beautifully written and easily digestible novel about the randomness of chance - being hit by lightning (literally!), and what happens after. It's interwoven with themes of chaos theory, fate, polar opposites and magnetic attraction, wish fulfilment, damaged psyches and healing. Wonderful.

  Readable and easy, finished in two after lunch sessions in my sheltered reading corner in the garden. Still not sure if I like this fairy style type style of writing, but it is no doubt about it a moving story of loss and forgiveness.

  I have been meaning to read something by Alice Hoffman for a long time. The first time I saw Jodi Picoult speak she mentioned that Hoffman was her favorite author. This book didn't grab me right away and I probably would have stopped reading it if it hadn't been recommended to me. Eventually I did end up enjoying it, but I wouldn't put it on the top of my list of must reads.
