    The first idea of this book was to expose the gritty cities and the meat packing industry of the period. Yet this book is also a warm, human tale of real human beings, beautifully written. It takes the reader through the pools of blood on the cutting room floor to the smell of the house the poor immigrant family live in. Sinclair brought into focus the way that the American industrial complex was (is) unjust and corrupt.

  • A crude description of the life of the working class in the US in times of the industrial revolution. Society, state, work, can be very well said to be a jungle, where cruelty takes place everyday and only the strongest survive

  • The Jungle is an amazing book. I simply couldn't put it down as each chapter left you waiting to see what would happen next. I suggest this book to everyone. Provides insight into the eternal battle between employers and employees.
