I'd dare say that this book is fundamental to anyone who wants to understand the reasons and life experiences behind Ballard's own work... in fact, this is my second Ballard book after Empire Of The Sun and it definitely constitutes a wonderful introduction to his body of work. I'd dare say that this book is fundamental to anyone who wants to understand the reasons and life experiences behind Ballard's own work... in fact, this is my second Ballard book after Empire Of The Sun and it definitely constitutes a wonderful introduction to his body of work. I still have to read Ballard's own non-fiction autobiography, but I'd recommend reading this fictionalised version of his life first, because I guess it achieves greater psychological depth. "Miracles of life" will follow, anyway!
