‘The older the zombie, the bigger the death needed to raise it.’

After a few centuries, the only death ‘big enough’ is a human sacrifice. I know because I’m an animator. My name is Anita Blake. Working for Animators, Inc. is just a job – like selling insurance. But all the money in the world wasn’t enough for me to take on the particular job Harold Gaynor was offering. Somebody else did, though – a rogue animator. Now he’s not just raising the dead... he’s raising Hell. And it’s up to me to stop it.

Well... so far, so good: there are enough action and all required paraphernalia to make a gothic novel entertaining. I like this Anita character for being bald, brave and strong in the tough male world which sorrounds her, saving and keeping her feminine under cover. Sexual attraction lies underground and does not spoil the fun with pages and pages of vampire stallions in heat. I cross my fingers and hope the Author keeps managing things in the next book.

  • (Yes, I'm a bit stuck on vampire books lately. LOL) I like this series almost as much as the Sookie Stackhouse series. This one is darker, with more detailed descriptions which is both a good, and a bad thing.

The heroine is quite interesting. I love how she's tiny but tough.

I like the Anita Blake character and I liked finding out a little bit more about her past - especially her first experience with (inadvertently) raising the dead. I also enjoy unraveling the (sometimes obscure) hometown references. Like the first Anita Blake Vampire Hunter book this one was also full of action and girl-power, but I sort of missed the vampires. Jean-Claude and Willie had a very small part in this one. This book was more about Anita and her zombies.
