What keeps mankind alive's the millions yearly that we mistreat and cheat; the beaten, burned and barbecued.
Mankind may just survive if it sincerely keeps every decent human urge subdued.
Try not to trim the truth to suit your needs: mankind is kept alive...

This book was part 1 of a three part set. Back to the style of the first two graphic novels, I found it a little bit of a disappointment after the amazingness of the Black Dossier, but it was still very enjoyable. I loved the references to Oliver Haddo, and that Carnacki had now joined the team.
It was a little sad that time had now progressed out of the realm of HG Wells and that the story at the end lacked the style of the earlier ones, but it was still an interesting story. It was great to see the character progression, Orlando in the flesh (even if Mina was right and as a man she is a bit of a bore). I will admit that apart from the Mac the knife song I didn't get the singing, which I thought was a shame (Apparently I needed to be more familiar with the Three penny opera!). I still liked the story of Nemo's daughter and her terrible revenge.
Still highly enjoyable though and I look forward very much to the next three parts.
