I loved it.
The type of story where it's not the story that matters, but the atmosphere and the images that the author can create with his words. Washington Irving is a master at this: with his words, he weaves mental images that take the reader to a world of silent woods, small Dutch villages, ghosts, full-moon nights that is very dark, indeed, and gives a good idea of how it might have felt to live in America around 1820. I absolutely loved this novella.
Will definitely go look for a copy of Rip Van Winkle now :)...Continua
