I usually thik of this book as The Colour of Magic - Part two, but I must say that even if storywise it kinda is, Pratchett style is already evolving, leaving the parody to build the foundation of the actual discworld.
Not one of my favourite ones (none of Rincewind's book is), but still nice.

The first Terry Pratchett novel I've read and I liked it. Since I haven't read the previous discworld novel it took me a little while to get used to the writing style and characters but once I got into it I enjoyed it till the end.
Every once in a while it's nice to escape from this reality and look at from a distance through a funky, multicolored lens. Since that is generally a bit difficult to achieve, I just settle for reading a novel such as this.

  • The second Discworld novel

This follows The Colour of Magic in more or less the same style. More themes being picked up and stowed away for later books here, it seems.
