Very exciting, depressing, but at the same time very attractive as a book! I want to get book 5 and read all about the Baudelaires now!

I greatly enjoyed this instalment. It was nice to see it follow a slightly different path than the first three. As always dark, hilarious and beautifully written.

This should be rated somewhere between "Quite Good" and "So-so." It's certainly not my favourite of the books, but it's not exactly so-so either.

This should be rated somewhere between "Quite Good" and "So-so." It's certainly not my favourite of the books, but it's not exactly so-so either.
I think what I dislike about it is that the sense of ridiculous (which is high in all these books) grows to outlandish proportions. For whatever reason I'm less bothered by a baby that can open tins with her teeth than I am by a baby that uses her teeth to duel with a sword-wielding baddie, as Sunny does in this book.
