The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.
But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.

True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

Written in rich, seductive prose, this spell-casting novel is a feast for the senses and the heart.

obviously, the author is very good at describing the circus. Every single inch, every minor detail she has written it so well that you would feel like you have been to le Cirque des Reves yourself.

However, the storyline is so thin. There's not much interaction between characters. After completing this book, I feel like I have read nothing memorable about the plot of this story book. She is too ambitious, trying to do too much thing in a time yet there is so little to be done. If the author could try harder to improve the plot of this story, this book would be flawless.

I loved the way you never knew which turn this book would take next. The descriptions were so lyrical and beautiful that it was a pleasure to read at times. I only dropped a star because I did feel that there was some contortion of issues to get to the end point, but it was a brillant read and I loved getting lost in the worlds.

"Good and evil are a great deal more complex than a princess and a dragon, or a wolf and a scarlet-clad little girl. And is not the dragon the hero of his own story?"

    ---
The night circus, a combination of wonderful exhibitions and artists, beyond imagination and physics.
A circus that is also a challenge, where two magicians confront themselves, Marco and Clelia, forced to the game by two ancient enchanters.
To the two the circus will be more than a game since it will bring them a family – a very peculiar one indeed -, love and the sensation of belonging to something beautiful.
A novel written with a fascinating and rich language as much as the settings: some tents are so wonderful it’s a pity they don’t exist.
The relation between the two main character is not trivial and the characters are well valued in their peculiarity; overall an interesting novel.
