  I've read this novel three times in two months. I am so pleasantly surprised by Reynolds. There's lots of SF around, but Sturgeon's Law is alive and well in these days. The Prefect is a good, solid mix of SF, thriller and adventure story, with a good plot, set against the background of Reynolds's future history, and real people in it. Recommended to anyone who likes good SF

The book was very confusing at the begining, but once I got into the flow of the story and started "viewing" the society where it took place, I started enjoying it a lot. The book was very confusing at the begining, but once I got into the flow of the story and started "viewing" the society where it took place, I started enjoying it a lot. I like a lot "science fiction societies' books" and in that sense it was good. Otherwise, the book is a nice detective style book
