Despite the rush to put down as few details of his younger life so he could get to a very elaborate display of his career, the book read well. I never missed a Kurt Douglas movie when I was growing up, saving every penny for a Saturday show. It would have been nice for a man who was bigger than life on the screen to share more of his roots that supported the idol.
