Ten master chefs sought inspiration in the pomp and circumstance of seventeenth-century Dutch painting. The cooks put together their own, personal five-course meals for four persons. Each recipe is accompanied by the painting that served as its direct inspiration. Thanks to unique detail illustrations, the reader can view famous and not-so-famous paintings through the eyes of the chef. The Rijksmuseum Cookbook is about more than the art of cooking, however, for it also grants us a peek into daily life in the seventeenth century.
