The plot wasn't bad, but, like a lot of female fantasy writers, she got caught up in details and had to add things like the "feminist sexual epiphany" scene and spent the last few chapters on them getting married. I'm going to move on to the sequel to this book and, according to my FH, the marriage is an important part of the continuing storyline. Looks like it, but they spend a LOT of time on it in this book.
