    What philosophy??

It's said this book likes Sophie's World with a philosophical content, but unlike Sophie's World, it does not explicitly mention philosophers and theories. However, as the reader, I was unaware that I was actually engaging in philosophy.

Ever since Sophie's World, Gaardner has hooked me into his world. He is a virtuoso in creating different realities with a phisophical twist.

If Sophie's World is your cup of tea, then The Solitaire Mystery is a real delicacy. Unlike the former novel, which can resemble a series of philosophical lectures too rich for some to bear, the latter manages to be short and sweet yet still delivers the punch. It is still about philosophy, but is cleverly written using a pack of cards to symbolize life and people.

This book urges us not to forget to ask the most basic philosophical questions: Who are we? Why are we here? The important point lies not in finding the answers, but in asking the questions. The fact that we are alive is itself an unbelievable fortune. We should not take life for granted or conform to the tedium of life mindlessly. Instead, we should keep asking questions and searching for the meaning of our existence. We all need our inner Joker to remind us not to lose our curiosity towards life.

  • I read this becoz Sophie's World is soo good, and this book actually sort of let down my expectation. I would say this is a bad book, but just not as insightful as SW.
