the first half of this book is just incredible.
every sentence left me in awe.
i loved the way the girl views her surroundings and how everything was so radical, especially at first. though, i am not entirely sure if a 9 year old can have such understandings of complex feelings, but i haven't been 9 for quite a while...
in a way i liked how the characters have no names, they can be almost anyone, but then again they are also somewhat specific as they can only be almost anyone in iceland.
but as the story progresses, something is lost or even gets too harsh for what it is.
the very last sentence has unravelled the beauty which was woven so gracefully in the beginning.
i felt like i had just spent a long time building a puzzle only to discover a very disappointing picture.
