My favourite idea from the book is from Terence, on how he worships Rachel but does not wish to marry her. It must have been novel in the time when people are expected to get married without a question if they are in love with each other.
All in all, the book is fairly engaging before Terence and Rachel are engaged. I wonder if that is Woolf's intention to portray life after engagement as dull and uninviting.
