#8 The injured Doctor Fitzpiers writes to Grace, and hopes are raised and dashed.
#9 With Giles lying desperately ill, Grace believes that only one person can save him.

Not among my favourites, but I admit Hardy is a great writer, his prose is quite catchy!
Plus, this book kind of taught me how hard it must be to be a gardner.
This novel contains a good plot and the characters are diverse and distinct. As usual with Hardy the rural scene is described with great care; but it seems in this story Hardy is meticulous with regard to the detail so that the words seem to live and breathe. The minor characters also have some wonderful parts, portrayed by such locals as Creedle and Upjohn. All in all great read, and some heart-stirring situations to boot!...Continua
