i'm afraid this book was no more than ok. it's quick to read, so i don't think it's a waste of time, but he's done muuuuch better than this. i could have done with a lot less detail about composing - music always plays a big part in his novels, but usually in a less "specialised" way. i guess it al ... i'm afraid this book was no more than ok. it's quick to read, so i don't think it's a waste of time, but he's done muuuuch better than this. i could have done with a lot less detail about composing - music always plays a big part in his novels, but usually in a less "specialised" way. i guess it also has to do with the main character being a musician, but still, i found those parts boring!
the story itself is OK, although it's not as good as The House of Sleep or The Rotters' Club in recreating atmospheres and making you imagine so perfectly the England he writes about. for some reason, i also found the main character really annoying, wimpy and whiny! pity! but i'll still read his next books :)
