I thought the book is worth to read when I read the cover, but I just found that it's tediously long reading and I got carried away with other things or falling asleep easily. I'm still clueless (kind of) after the reading.
A lot of fun and more relaxed than earlier Peter Carey. Less of the fabulistic than favorites like 'Bliss' and 'Oscar and Lucinda'. This is an excellent heist story combined with a bawdy satire of the 'genius artist descending into hell' portrait ( cf The Horses Mouth).
