First of all. I had so many hope in this book. It had a potential or so I thought. It didn't take me long to read, but mostly because when I have time and patience I am a fast reader.
Anyhow; let's start this review:
For one who's always been enthralled by authors of the caliber of Stephen King and Anne Rice-- masters of eloquence and prophecy, this resulted in being an easy read. ( Especially for a non-English speaker) It was simple, maybe way too simple after I had re-read the classic novel and a Rice one.
Most of the time a pay Simplicity but this time I can't really do it because the book was lacking something. It was in some trait confusing and it unsettled and disappointed me since the plot has/had a big potential.
It was fresh, new. Something the writer could have worked on more. She could have squeezed more juice, she could have shaped the character differently to not make sound some part already seen.: August the monster who doesn't want to be one and succumb to Darkness. Kate the usual "heroine" who tries to be a badass girl all swear and punch.
We have seen that already.
After all this, I can say that the book was okay. With a simple impact thanks to its easy and fluid reading. It doesn't have pretenses, it let even the less expert reader catch all the hue and shadows. Even tho some part sounded confusing and not well described. I expected more especially after all the acclamation the book received.
PS. Sorry this is my first review written in English...Continua
