    I know, I know - everyone loves this book. I just found it mildly diverting. Well-done, of course, but not anything which captivated me or left a lingering impression. Comic, picaresque account of a journey down the Thames. I actually bought this to clarify Connie Willis' "To Say Nothing of the Dog" (taken from the parenthetical sub-line of this novel.) It's been touted as Bertie Wooster takes a trip, but I much prefer Wodehouse to this.

This comic novel describes the boating expedition on the Thames of three friends and their dog, Montmerency. The difficulties and vicissitudes of these innocents abroad are magnified to epic proportions, and give the book an air of fresh innocence.
