    Love 'im or hate 'im, Nietzsche was one heck of a writer, whatever one's personal feelings of his philosophies. TSZ is possibly Nietzsche's best-known work, mostly famous for the often taken out of context "God is dead" quote. However, it's an exuberant, frenetic work which has challenged generations of students, philosophers and just plain old dilettantes.

    Definitely worth reading, if only to understand why this has had such an enormous impact on subsequent political and philosophical thought.

Thus Spake Zarathustra is a masterpiece of literature as well as philosophy. It was Nietzsche’s own favorite and has proved to be his most popular. In this book he addresses the problem of how to live a fulfilling life in a world without meaning, in the aftermath of "the death of God." His solution lies in the idea of eternal recurrence, which he calls "the highest formula of affirmation that can ever be attained." A successful engagement with this profoundly Dionysian idea enables us to choose clearly among the myriad possibilities that existence offers, and thereby to affirm every moment of our lives with others on this "sacred" earth.
Nietzsche uses the Persian religious leader Zarathustra to voice the author’s views, including the introduction of the controversial doctrine of the Übermensch, or "superman," a term later perverted by Nazi propagandists. A passionate, quasi-biblical style is employed to inspire readers to become more than they have been and to transcend the limitations of conventional morality.It contains the kernel of Nietzsche's thought. 'God is dead', he tells us. Christianity is decadent, leading mankind into a slave morality concerned not with this life, but with the next.
The book also had a profound influence on early twentieth-century writers such as Shaw,Mann,Gide,Lawrence and Sartre
